New Energy Tariff Confirmed With British Gas [Updated 23/07/2025]

We’ve secured an exclusive fixed energy tariff with British Gas for our customers following Rebel Energy’s closure. This new tariff is cheaper than both Rebel’s rates and Octopus' current cheapest tariff. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s changing, what it costs, and how it affects you.

Over the last few months, we've been working hard behind the scenes with both Rebel Energy and British Gas to make sure your energy account transition is as smooth as possible.

We're happy to let you know that we've successfully secured a fixed energy tariff that’s exclusive to Homebox customers—and it’s on average £100 cheaper per year than Octopus' lowest available tariff.

✅ What’s new with the British Gas tariff?

  • Your new energy tariff is fixed and exclusive to Homebox customers.

  • It’s cheaper than your previous Rebel Energy tariff.

  • British Gas has backdated this tariff to 6th April 2025, the date Rebel went into administration.

You don’t need to do anything if you're happy with this tariff—your energy account has already been updated, and you’re on track to save money.

Single Rate Electricity Charges & All Gas Charges

If you have a standard Electricity meter with a single rate, then depending on which region you are in, you'll pay the rates below. For Gas customers, you'll pay a single rate for your usage shown in the table below.BG Comms Table - Knowledge Base Single Rates

Dual Rate Electricity Charges (Economy 7 Meters with Day/Night Rate)

If you have an Economy 7 meter which has day and night rates, then depending on which region you are in, you'll pay the rates below for your electricity (and the rates above for Gas).
