Why has my energy not switched yet?
Energy switches can take between 5 days and 1 month. Delays can happen if you owe money, have incorrect details, or have a prepayment meter.
There are several reasons why your energy switch may not have completed yet.
-
Outstanding balance:
If you owe money to your previous supplier, they may block your switch until the balance is cleared. -
Incorrect details:
Sometimes, the address, meter number (MPAN/MPRN) or other information doesn’t match what’s listed on the national energy database. We may need to confirm your details before the switch can continue. -
Meter readings mismatch:
If the opening meter readings we hold do not match those on record, this can cause delays. We’ll contact you if we need updated readings. -
Prepayment meter:
If your home has a prepayment meter, your current supplier must switch it to credit mode before the transfer can happen. You’ll need to contact your existing supplier directly to request this change. Once they’ve switched it, we can complete your energy transfer.
Timeframe:
Energy switches normally take between 5 days and 1 month, depending on your supplier and the information available.
Tip: If your switch is taking longer than expected, please contact us so we can check the status for you.
