Can I switch my water to a different supplier?
No, you can’t switch your water supplier in the UK. Water services are provided by regional companies based on where your home is located.
In the UK, water suppliers are regional, which means your supplier is determined by your address, not by personal choice. Each area has one company responsible for supplying clean water and managing wastewater.
Because water supply is location-based, you cannot switch suppliers in the same way you can for gas, electricity, or broadband. Your local water company is assigned to your property and regulated to ensure fair pricing and service standards.
If you move home, your water supplier may change automatically depending on your new postcode. When you move, simply update your water account with the new supplier for your area.
