Changing your Direct Debit
You can change your bank details or your payment date. Choose the one you need below.
Changing your bank details
If your bank account details have changed or you need to update your payment information, you’ll first need to cancel your existing Direct Debit and then set up a new one. This article explains the steps, what to expect after cancelling, and why it’s important to act quickly to avoid missed payments
1. Cancel your current Direct Debit
- Contact your bank: Ask your bank to cancel your direct debit with Billing Better. Although our current company name is Homebox, our bank account is under our previous name, Billing Better.
- Use online banking: You may also be able to cancel it through your online banking app by visiting the ‘Direct Debits’ section.
2. Set up your new payment
Once your Direct Debit is cancelled, you’ll get an automated email from us within 1-2 working days.
- Follow the link: click the link in the email and enter your new details.
- Complete the setup: make sure you finish the process so the update goes through.
Haven’t received the email after 2 working days? Contact us.
Before you set up the new Direct Debit, check with your bank that the old one is fully cancelled. That way you won’t be charged twice
Act quickly to avoid disruption
It’s important to set up your payment again as soon as possible. If your details aren’t updated within a few days, we can’t collect your payment.
Note: Missed payments can lead to unpaid bills, warning letters and possible action from your suppliers.
Change your payment date
Your first payment is collected within the first two weeks of your tenancy. It covers your first 30 days of service so your utilities are ready from day one.
If you’d like a different payment date, the change applies to everyone paying bills in your home. You’ll all move to the new date together, and the new date depends on when your suppliers’ payments are due.
To request a change, Contact us and our team will confirm the new date for you.
