How will I be affected by Rebel Energy’s closure?
As of 1 April 2025, our main energy supplier, Rebel Energy, has stopped trading. This article explains what this means for you and how you can make sure your energy supply won’t be affected.
Will my energy be cut off?
No, your energy service will continue as usual. And as long as you continue making your monthly payments, there’ll be no disruption in the future either.
Who will provide my energy now?
Ofgem, the UK’s independent energy regulator, is responsible for finding your new supplier. Once they do, you’ll be moved to a tariff that costs the same. We’ll update you when this happens.
Is there anything I need to do?
Simply keep paying for your Homebox bills package as usual – this will ensure your energy service runs smoothly and your credit score remains unaffected. Any debt on your energy account will transfer to your new supplier, so it’s important to stay on top of payments.
If you haven’t uploaded a recent meter reading, make sure to take one this week. Regular readings help keep your future bills accurate.
My account was in credit with Rebel Energy – will I lose it?
No. Your credit is protected by Ofgem and will transfer to your new energy supplier.
